Uhhhh How about The Exorcist (Dont watch around the 'rents! Its perverted.), The Ring, Mirrors, The Grudge, The Strangers, Shutter, The Shining. Thats all i got.
I don’t find the newer movies that come out particularly scary. I would suggests a few classics like the original Amityville Horror(1979), and Psycho(1960). In my opinion the older the scarier. I had a scary movie night with a bunch of my friends and we watched The Strangers, it scared no one. And it was really annoying because it tried to be all cleaver and make it look like her husband killed her by keep changing her outfit. Long story short, to use your expression, it blew. Hoped this helped:]
